  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk, and add the eggs and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the blueberries and lavender.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
