- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon black food coloring

- In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.

- When the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), remove it from heat.
- Add food coloring and stir quickly to combine.
- Carefully dip each apple into the syrup, twisting to coat evenly. Let excess syrup drip off.
- Place dipped apples on wax paper to cool until the coating hardens.
